I finally broke down and bought a new pair of jeans. When I tried them on, I found that little tag in the pocket. I think that tag says it all.
Good judgement comes from experience,
and experience comes from poor judgement.
These are some of the stories about what we’ve learned, usually by screwing up. It’s also some stuff we think is fun, special, or just downright awesome.
I finally broke down and bought a new pair of jeans. When I tried them on, I found that little tag in the pocket. I think that tag says it all.
I guess my point this week is, ultimately, hoping you’ve let yourself be known.
What I’ve come to realize, though, is that using the word ‘just’ seems to, as the Hemingway Editor purports, weaken the word it precedes.
Stopping to say ‘Hi’ is a small act of intention that can break down barriers and be kindling to conversation and change. It’s a first step to learning someone’s story.
How many people could you run into somewhere and ask them something personal without feeling like you were being nosy?

I was talking with one of the participants this week who told me, ‘I like to learn, I don’t like to be taught.’
What’s been so hard for me to accept is how I, in fact, help others best when I don’t have all the answers.
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too…
If I had to make up a number that represented the percentage of influence that’s granted through all the various ways I communicate, I’d say…sixty percent. Maybe seventy-five.
